AssetWorks Approach

The UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals are the world’s shared plan to end extreme poverty, reduce inequality and protect the planet by 2030. Creating a positive impact in the local communities where we live, and work is a priority to AssetWorks. Therefore, we have identified six of the UN’s principles to focus on which cover three key social value areas; Environmental, Social; and Economic. Our initiatives under these three values align with the following UN Sustainability Development goals:

  • 2 Zero Hunger
  • 4 Quality Education
  • 5 Gender Equality
  • 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • 13 Climate Action
  • 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Environmental

As a software provider our products and services can be delivered with no physical goods production or transportation. We also have a remote workforce lowering the production of emissions. However, AssetWorks always tries to lower our carbon emissions and even takes on the responsibility of offsetting our employees’ emissions even when they are not at work. We strive to be carbon negative.

Our environmental initiatives include:

  • Carbon offsetting by planting trees on projects across the planet
  • Reducing our carbon footprint by reducing our travel and embracing technology

Social

Our employees are our most important assets. We ensure our team enjoys work by giving them the opportunity to be themselves and reach their full potential. To maintain a healthy work-life balance, our employees work remotely and can support their own communities through AssetWorks support; this being fundraising, volunteering or physical donations.

Our social initiatives include:

  • Supporting national and local charities. To date, we have supported the following charities: Shelter & Centrepoint, Mind, Cancer Research UK, SANDS, Action for Children, Alzheimer’s Society, Transaid, and Variety.
  • Contribute and donate to our local food bank at Christmas to support our community.
  • Ensure Equality and Diversity is taken seriously and part of our induction program all new staff and sub-contractors.

Economic

AssetWorks is a standalone subsidiary of Constellation Software Inc., a publicly traded corporation on the Toronto stock exchange offering the assurance of solid financial backing and a depth of resources unmatched in our industry. We use this stability to invest in local communities by educating people and inspiring young talent.

Our economic initiatives include:

  • Supporting skill development through apprenticeships.
  • Improve skills for local people through local school and college visits to discuss career options.
  • Undertake several activities to support young people getting into work; this may include CV advice, mock interviews, and career guidance.
